At a press conference, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro confirmed the victim’s identity after receiving permission from Comperatore’s wife, who was an avid supporter of the former Republican president and died a “hero”.

The Democratic governor pointed out that, according to the victim’s wife, Corey Comperatore died when he rushed to protect his family from shooting during the attack. He was a girl’s father, Shapiro said.

The governor of Pennsylvania added “an avid supporter of the former president, and was so excited to be there last night with him in the community,” said Shapiro.

Who Was the Shooter?

The FBI has identified the shooter against former President Donald Trump as Thomas Mathiew Crooks a white man originally from Pennsylvania.

Matthew Crooks was a 20-year-old young who lived near Bethel Park, where the attack occurred, in Pennsylvania, the same state where the rally was held in which Trump was attacked, who has been wounded in the right ear, but whose life is not in danger.

Law enforcement officials told to the North American news agency AP that bomb-making materials were found inside the vehicle of the suspect and inside his home.

An FBI official said Crook’s motives had not yet be determined by the authorities although Public court records in Pennsylvania show no past criminal cases against the shooter, who graduated from high school two years ago.

Crook’s father told news channel CNN that he was trying to figure out “what the hell is going on” but wouldn’t speak about his son until after he talked to the police.

The young man was the victim of bullying and had been seen in a shooting club in his home town, Bethel Park, according to a young man who met him at school.

“He was bullied almost every day,” Jason Kohler, who said he attended the same high school but did not share any classes with Crooks told reporters. “He was just a outcast, and you know how kids are nowadays.”

On X a video from Crooks has been broadcast saying “I hate Republicans, I hate Trump and guess what, you got the wrong guy.”
